THE TIME IT TAKES TO LEAVE MY BODY

memoir synopsis

THE TIME IT TAKES TO LEAVE MY BODY is one woman's account of a double rape in New York City’s West Village by the "Top Gun Rapist” and its trial following a cold case hit almost a decade later. It is a lyrical love letter to Manhattan in the 90s, its vibrant music scene, and the people and artifacts lost and found along the way. The memoir explores friendship, loss, and love, the complexity of becoming a public survivor, and the unmarked paths to recovery and re-imagining one's identity.
